Jim Knapp, Kula Marine

A transplant from the coast of Maine, Jim purchased his first boat in Seattle in 1984, and has had three others since then. His last boat, KULA, he lived on and cruised throughout Puget Sound, B.C., Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. Eventually heading to Fort Lauderdale, selling KULA, and landing a job on a sailboat in the Mediterranean. Jim has taken a number of trips down the Pacific Coast and through the Panama Canal. To his chagrin, he has also weathered three hurricanes...catch him when he's not working, and he'll be happy to recount many a sea story.

In the last 28 years in the marine industry, Jim has had the good fortune to be trained by riggers, electricians, painters, and mechanics, and has worked, captained, and crewed on a variety of sail and power vessels up to 105'. Jim's breadth of experience enables him to think through small and large projects, taking into consideration the necessary steps to complete a job as well as keeping in mind what future changes an owner may require. Jim listens well to his clients needs and concerns, and can advise on the best equipment, and approach in installations based on his vast experience. Jim takes his work personally and will treat your boat as if it were his own.
